Most people travel to the popular Costa del Sol by plane, and since Malaga has by far the largest international airport in the province it is very busy.

Malaga Airport is located 8 km southwest of Malaga city and 5 km north of Torremolinos. It is the fourth busiest airport in Spain. Malaga Airport (AGP) is the main airport for Costa del Sol and Malaga. The airport has flight connections to over 20 cities in Spain and more than 60 countries worldwide, most of them in Europe but some destinations are in Africa and South America.

After a recent extension, the airport operates three terminals. The new terminal three opened in March 2010 and is adjacent to the previous two.
A second runway was opened in 2012. After the extension of the airport it has a capacity of more than 30 million passengers a year.

Malaga airport has parking facilities for short term as well as long term parking. A large number of local as well as international car rental companies are present at the airport. There are bus services at the airport, and train service in a walking distance of 5-10 minutes. Taxis are also available.
